Wider Learning

We have a full programme of enrichment activities for students who are considered to be academically able and/or talented in an area such as sport, art or music.

Teachers are expected to plan lessons for all abilities, ensuring that the most able are challenged to meet their aspirational targets.  They will be given home learning that expects them to be independent learners, researching ideas and presenting their learning appropriately.

Academically able students are encouraged to follow a pathway that leads to University or to Higher Level Apprenticeships.  We encourage such students to follow the EBacc courses: English Language and Literature; Maths; Triple Sciences; a Modern Foreign Language and either History or Geography.

We encourage students interest in going to university by arranging visits to Oxford and Cambridge colleges; we take part each year in the Cambridge Challenge Competition.  We also work closely with the University of Bedfordshire and Luton Sixth Form College to provide enrichment activities, such as the Debating Society.
