We work closely with the Luton Music Service to ensure that as many students as possible are given the opportunity to learn an instrument and perform in front of an audience. This year, in order to support a wide range of students who might not have thought that learning an instrument was something they could do, we have invested in the Yamaha Class Band Project with all Year 7 classes. We are the only school in Luton running a project where every student in their core Music lessons is learning to play a woodwind or brass instrument.
In March we celebrated the four Class Bands' successes with their first concert - it was a resounding success and the students played to a packed hall of appreciative friends, relatives and staff, all cheering them on.
Our older students continue their music through studying for their grade exams and/or following a GCSE course in Music. We have some extremely talented musicians and singers who not only wow us in concerts at the school but also play in the Luton Youth Orchestra and sing with the Luton Youth Cantores; we even have singer songwriters who have recorded their work on our very own recording label - we are very proud to be part of such an impressive music tradition.
